Voluntarily Blind

Stain glass windows

Carefully locked so I can’t out

You had to keep your mind closed

In fear of being wrong and taken down

How am I supposed to know

When you say that you love me

Do you really mean a single word you speak

‘Cause I’ve been blamed but never guilty

Trying to get by on a losing streak

I can’t take back all my innocence

It’s gone, escaped, not mine

And I wish there was a way we could begin again

But it’s too difficult

You’re out of line

Taking everything away

All of a sudden

You’re so

Voluntarily blind

Sitting back as I die inside

You just had to win

Cutting off my clothes

Playing like it’s just a game

Now everyone knows

What I look like outside the picture frame

You lean in and whisper close

How you hate that I did this

‘Cause it doesn’t go by the rules you made up for me

I can’t explain the purpose

Before you drag me out and throw away the key

There’s no more trust in between us

We lost it all a while ago

And you act like everything is as it once was

But you couldn’t more wrong

You’re out of line

Taking everything away

All of a sudden

You’re so

Voluntarily blind

Sitting back as I die inside

You just had to win
